Busy but successful first week back.  Some students are integrating into other classrooms and all students are learning new routines.  Nightly reading programs will be sent home either Monday or Tuesday this week.  I will be sending students home with books that they will pick out each morning.  I am also sending home information on Raz Kids- online reading/comprehension program. I will be brainstorming on Monday with the students on ideas for nightly reading (books, Raz Kids stories, magazines, Facebook, menus, newspaper etc.).

We will be using technology a lot this year (including lab tops, scanners, hover cameras, Smart Board I-Pads etc.  Please don't be concern if you don't see a lot of the traditional 'paper work' coming home.  If you have concerns regarding this please contact me at the school.

The school day is broken into 3 blocks.  First block I focus on reading (groups, guided and independent- Raz Kids), math and writing.  Second block consists of hands on (tactile) academic centers (reading, math, spelling, word study, self driven activities, discovery, writing etc.).  Third block consists of social skills/ life skills with free choice activities the last 30 minutes of the day (for students who have earned it).

Just a reminder for parents to please send in a pair of headphones- needed for I-Pad activities.

Looking forward to a great year!
